As a former high school and college athlete now in his 40’s, he found training BJJ to be more than just learning the art. He sees it as an excellent way to maintain discipline, stay in physical and mental shape, and keep a competitive edge. He has competed at both 155 and 170 weight classes and has a silver medal in each division. Throughout the years, Joe has actively contributed to the local community by coaching various kids' sports teams. This experience, coupled with his commitment to advancing in the sport, made him an ideal addition to the instructor team at Gracie Allegiance Ohio's thriving kids program. Off the mats, Joe embraces an active lifestyle. He is an avid skier and backpacker, finding both adventure and peace in the outdoors. Above all, Joe values his family, which consists of his wife and their three children, making quality time with them the top priority in his life.

Hi my name is Melinda Derricott, but I go by Mindi. If you ask the kid's class my name is Minnie Mouse. I joined Gracie Allegiance in July of 2022 and immediately fell in love with the school and the family environment Gracie Allegiance has to offer. I became an Assistant Coach for kids classes this year and love teaching the kids; playing games with them and watching them grow not just as students but as individuals. I competed in my first tournament at the 2023 Arnold Classic and went 10-1 with ten submissions to win double gold. As well as competing at Grappling Industries in Newark winning double gold and silver. Leaving my record at 16 wins with 14 by submission.
